If you're looking to make the switch from a subcompact sedan to a subcompact crossover, the New 2020 Nissan Kicks is a perfect choice. It may look tiny, but the Kicks is pleasantly practical with a spacious back seat and plenty of cargo space-all with an affordable price tag. It offers a peppy and fuel-efficient drive with standard driver-assistance features, including automated emergency braking.

As a bonus, In 2018, Nissan celebrated 50 combined years of manufacturing in the U.S., as its Tennessee manufacturing plant marked its 35 anniversary, and its Mississippi facility celebrated its 15th. Keep reading to learn more about this fun to drive, quirky crossover with next-level personalization options.

Performance and Fuel Economy
The Kicks is powered by a 125-horsepower four-cylinder engine that provides ample acceleration. A CVT handles shifting duties in front-wheel-drive (all-wheel-drive is not an option). As it's smaller than your typical SUV, the Kicks is agile enough to produce a fun, perky drive around town. Its suspension is tuned for comfort, providing a well-cushioned trip, and the steering is direct and accurate.

If you're looking for a fuel-efficient crossover, look no further. The Kicks has an impressive fuel economy estimate of 31 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway-33 mpg combined.

If you're into vehicles with versatility and bold appearance, you'll be drawn to the 2020 Nissan Kicks. It's available in a range of seven exterior colors with five two-tone combinations.

On the aggressive exterior, you'll find familiar Nissan design features such as the V-motion grille and "floating roof" with a "wraparound visor." There are sharp edges cut from the hood and headlights into sweeping, curved lines that flow back over the wraparound LED taillights.

Interior and Cargo Space
The Kicks' interior is user-friendly, looks grown-up, and is well-built. Its rear seat is adult-sized, meaning you can haul around your friends without having to cramp them in the back as you would in rivals such as the Toyota C-HR.

You can customize the interior and exterior finishes such as paint, wheels, vents, mirrors, and more. The seats incorporate splashes of color to help break up the all-black interior.

It may be a subcompact SUV, but the Kicks has plenty of storage space, especially with the rear seats folded down. With large door pockets and a large glovebox, front passengers won't notice that space in the back seat is at a premium.

The Kicks is equipped with the NissanConnect infotainment system, which is intuitive and easy to learn. All models have the 7" touchscreen, six-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity. There are two different premium audio systems available as options, as well as onboard Wi-Fi.

Safety Features and Crash Test Results
The Kicks comes with more standard safety features and equipment than is usual for any class of vehicle-let alone its more economical one. Nissan Safety Shield 360 technology includes standard forward-collision warning, standard automated emergency braking, and standard blind-spot monitoring. The Kicks also has front knee airbags and rear side airbags, which are rare in any vehicle. Rear door alert is now standard on the SV and SR grades.

So, how is the Nissan Kicks rated for safety? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2020 Kicks four out of five stars in its rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it the highest rating of Good in all six crashworthiness tests.

Trim Levels
The 2020 Nissan Kicks is available in three trim levels: S, SV, and SR. The base S trim comes with the safety technology such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, but it isn't Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatible.

The S model comes standard with a 7" touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, three USB ports, a six-speaker audio system, remote keyless entry, push-button start, and automatic headlights.
Standard safety features include a rearview camera, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, and rear parking sensors.

The SV includes most of the features on the S as well as the NissanConnect infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as satellite radio.
Also included for this model is automatic climate control, remote start, and alloy wheels as standard.

Building off the SV model, the SR trim adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a surround-view parking camera. You can also add a premium package that includes synthetic leather seats, an eight-speaker premium Bose audio system, and heated front seats.
