2027 Nissan Armada: What's New, Trims, Specs & Dark Armor Package
The 2027 Nissan Armada gains a new Dark Armor package on the SL grade, blacking out the exterior trim, grille, and wheels. ProPILOT Assist 2.1 is now standard on the Platinum Reserve, a meaningful upgrade from the prior year's optional status. This page covers every trim, spec, and change for 2027, with current inventory available at Fort Worth Nissan.
What's New for 2027
Two changes define the 2027 Armada update, and both are worth knowing before you shop.
Dark Armor Package, Available on the SL grade, this package transforms the Armada's appearance with black 20-inch wheels, dark chrome exterior trim, a darkened front grille and lower fascia, black exterior badges, and blackened roof rails and window trim. Inside, buyers get black upholstery, dark accents on the dashboard, steering wheel, and center console, plus a panoramic moonroof. It is the first appearance package of this type ever offered on the Armada, and it builds a more aggressive blacked-out stance without changing any mechanical hardware.
ProPILOT Assist 2.1 now standard on Platinum Reserve, Previously an option requiring the Platinum AD2 Package, hands-off freeway driving capability is now baked into the top trim as standard equipment. The system uses cameras and radar sensors to allow attentive drivers to drive hands-off in single-lane freeway situations, making long highway stretches more comfortable.
The Armada also carries over its J.D. Power 2026 APEAL segment-winner status and its Consumer Reports Top-Rated Large SUV recognition into the 2027 model year.
Trim Lineup
The 2027 Armada spans six trims, each adding meaningfully to the one below it.
SL, The entry point into the Armada lineup. Standard features include the 12.3-inch NissanConnect touchscreen, 12-speaker Klipsch audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google built-in, heated front seats, a 360-degree HD camera system, and ProPILOT Assist hands-on. The SL is the only trim available in rear-wheel drive; all others are 4WD standard. The Dark Armor package is exclusive to this trim.
Platinum, Steps up to a 14.3-inch NissanConnect touchscreen, a 14.3-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, quilted leather seating, a panoramic moonroof, heated second-row seats, ambient lighting, an Intelligent Rear View Mirror, and a 3D Around View Monitor. Power-folding mirrors and a motion-activated power liftgate also arrive here.
PRO-4X, Built for buyers who leave pavement behind. Standard features include Adaptive Electronic Air Suspension, an electronic locking rear differential, all-terrain tires on 20-inch black wheels, eight selectable drive modes, a metal underbody skid plate, Lava Red-painted tow hooks, a unique high-clearance front fascia, LED fog lights, and black fender flares. An Intelligent Dash Cam (front and rear) and an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller are also standard. Ground clearance reaches 9.6 inches minimum and up to 11.6 inches with the air suspension raised.
NISMO, The performance trim. Output rises to 460 hp (on premium fuel) from the same twin-turbo V6, backed by NISMO-tuned suspension, brakes, and steering. It rides on 22-inch NISMO RAYS forged-alloy wheels with high-performance all-season tires, wears unique front and rear fascias, a NISMO grille, side steps, and a rear spoiler. The interior uses NISMO Ultrasuede seating with red accents. This is the most powerful Armada ever built.
Platinum Reserve, The flagship. ProPILOT Assist 2.1 hands-off is now standard here. It also adds 22-inch machined alloy wheels, quilted leather seating, climate-controlled and massaging front seats, an Intelligent Dash Cam, Adaptive Electronic Air Suspension, a panoramic moonroof, and every technology and comfort feature in the lineup. The Platinum AD2 Package with ProPILOT Assist 2.1 is also available as an add-on for the Platinum grade.
Performance & Powertrain
Every 2027 Armada uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged DOHC 24-valve V6 paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Standard output is 425 hp at 5,600 rpm and 516 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm, using regular unleaded fuel. Premium fuel is recommended to unlock the full performance potential on non-NISMO trims.
The NISMO trim produces 460 hp on premium fuel, the highest output ever offered in an Armada.
Drivetrain options depend on trim. The SL is available in RWD or 4WD. All other trims are 4WD standard, using a switch-operated 2-speed transfer case. The PRO-4X adds an electronic locking rear differential and eight selectable drive modes for serious off-road use.
Towing capacity reaches 8,500 lbs when properly equipped, across all trims.
EPA-estimated fuel economy:
- SL RWD: 16 city / 20 hwy / 18 combined
- SL 4WD / Platinum: 16 city / 19 hwy / 17 combined
- NISMO 4WD: 16 city / 19 hwy / 17 combined
- PRO-4X 4WD: 15 city / 18 hwy / 16 combined
Interior, Comfort & Cargo
The Armada seats seven as standard across all trims. An optional Split-Bench Seat Package adds an eight-passenger configuration (except on NISMO) with a second-row 40/20/40 split bench and center console.
Front seats use Nissan's Zero Gravity design with adjustable head restraints. The SL provides 10-way power adjustment for the driver and 6-way for the passenger. Platinum and above step up to 12-way power on both front seats with 4-way lumbar. Massaging front seats arrive on the Platinum and are standard through the Platinum Reserve.
Third-row passengers get 32.9 inches of leg room. The 60/40 split third-row bench folds flat into the floor via power one-touch folding, opening up 56.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and 97.1 cubic feet with both rear rows folded. Behind the third row, cargo volume is 20.4 cubic feet, which is competitive for the class.
Tri-Zone Automatic Temperature Control is standard across the lineup. Biometric Cooling, which adjusts climate settings based on the driver's biometric data, is available on Platinum and above.
Technology & Infotainment
The SL starts with a 12.3-inch NissanConnect touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display. All trims from Platinum upward receive a 14.3-inch touchscreen and a 14.3-inch driver display.
Google built-in is standard across the lineup, bringing Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store directly into the dashboard without requiring a phone. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are both standard. Amazon Alexa Built-In, SiriusXM with 360L, and a 5G in-car Wi-Fi hotspot round out the connectivity suite.
All trims include the 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio System with Active Sound Enhancement, 600 watts across 12 channels.
Seven USB-C ports are standard with captain's chair seating (five with the bench seat option). A wireless charging pad, two 12V power points, and a 120V cargo-area outlet are all included.
The Intelligent Dash Cam (front and rear) is standard on PRO-4X Premium and Platinum Reserve, and available on the Platinum. A Head-Up Display is available on SL, Platinum, and PRO-4X trims.
ProPILOT Assist 2.1 (hands-off) is standard on Platinum Reserve and can be added to the Platinum via the Platinum AD2 Package.
Safety & Driver Assistance
The full Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite is standard on every 2027 Armada. That includes Intelligent Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian AEB, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with automatic braking, High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Hill Start Assist.
All trims include the HD Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection. The Platinum and above add a 3D Around View Monitor, and the PRO-4X adds Invisible Hood View and Front Wide View camera technologies for spotting trail obstacles without leaving the driver's seat.
Curtain air bags cover all three rows. The Nissan Advanced Air Bag System includes dual-stage front air bags and driver and front-passenger knee bags. Front far-side air bags are standard on Platinum and above.
ProPILOT Assist hands-on (standard on SL through PRO-4X) helps with centering in the lane and maintaining following distance on the highway. ProPILOT Assist 2.1 (standard on Platinum Reserve) extends that capability to hands-off freeway driving in single-lane situations when conditions allow.
Who It's For / vs. the Prior Year
The 2027 Armada is the right choice for buyers who need genuine 8,500-lb towing capability, three-row space for up to eight, and a full-size body-on-frame SUV that does not require a diesel engine or a truck-based compromise to get the job done.
Against the prior model year, the 2027 upgrade is focused but meaningful. The Dark Armor package is new for anyone who wants a blacked-out aesthetic on the SL without stepping up trim levels. The ProPILOT Assist 2.1 upgrade at the Platinum Reserve level adds real value for families who log highway miles regularly.
Buyers in the Fort Worth area shopping the full-size SUV segment against rivals will find that the Armada's 460-hp NISMO variant and standard 425-hp twin-turbo output place it at the top of the segment for power. The PRO-4X's approach angles (up to 33 degrees), electronic locking rear differential, and air suspension make it one of the most off-road-capable three-row SUVs available from a mainstream brand.
